Doug Retzer Shares His Sasquatch

 Encounters With Ed Brown

   Doug Retzer has some really great Sasquatch Stories and he shared them with Ed brown in this really great two part interview. Doug had a stringer of trout stolen and he was chased out of the area and nearly hit by a car as he jumped a guardrail to get away. This is just one of the amazing stories that Doug shared with Ed.

Stacy Brown Jr. Sits Down With Ed Brown

   Stacy Brown Jr. Sat Down With Ed Brown for this very candid and entertaining interview. Stacy took off the kid gloves on this one so you might want to put the kiddies to bed before throwing this up on the big screen. Ed and Stacy talked about a lot of different topics in this video from his early days as a small town rock star to his famous flir footage to his dealings with the Finding Bigfoot show to his participation and big win with his partner Dave on the Ten Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty show on Spike TV.

“15 Minutes of Reactions from the Bigfoot
Community added to the Dyer Hoax”

 By: Ed Brown
    It was brought to my attention that an extra 15 minutes of footage that will consist of the reactions from the Bigfoot Community, will be added to the end of the Minnow Films production “Shooting Bigfoot” better known as Dyer’s hoax. Did you catch that? “Dyer’s Hoax!” No, they aren’t changing the title of the movie, just a comment in reference to the movie, but I have to admit that I have been calling it that for a long time, but this time it isn’t just me saying it.

    It is reported that Minnow films has contacted Vic Gutierrez of Bigfootweekly, and video blogger Nikki Colon asking them for their most ridiculous clips of video about the hoax. It’s worth noting that Vic and Nikki being asked was just a courtesy, as their videos fall under the fair use doctrine. I love seeing quality people like this getting some recognition for their work. It may be a double edged sword though.

  Assuming all this is true, there would only be one logical reason for this; they want to make the Bigfoot community look like a bunch of idiots, as was their original plan when making and distributing the movie. By learning to work together, we may be able to endure yet another embarrassing episode brought on by Rick Dyer and Minnow Films. This is a great community and one I am proud to be a part of, but we still have these types to deal with. It’s time to end Dyer’s 15 minutes of fame, and get back to what really matters, looking for the Big Guy!

New Evidence Found In Northeastern Pennsylvania

   Robert Anderson in Northeastern Pennsylvania has had some strange activity around his place. He contacted me last week and we spoke on the phone. He was a very believable witness who is a long haul truck driver and has no stake here in our little community. He has already had the BFRO out to his place and has talked to a couple of research organizations. One guy lost him with a sell of an expedition and the other organization lost his interest when they asked him if it might be a Mothman or Chupacabra. C'mon Maaaan..... Seriously? He's got some great pics of a footprint sixteen and a half inches long next to his size twelve shoe and a stride of an incredible seven ft. eight in.!

Sixteen and a half inch print
Seven foot eight in. stride

   Mr. Anderson also caught a short video of the creature that left the prints. I am having the video stabilized and enhanced to try to get something out of the very shaky footage. I have high hopes that it will turn out fairly good. In the meantime, he has supplied me with before and after pics showing the very blurry and indiscernible creature at a distance near a neighbor's pond.

Now you see it

Now you don"t

   I have found someone in the nearby area that is arranging to go out to Mr. Anderson's property and do a thorough investigation. He told me a great story about he and his father in law seeing it's eyes at night around seven and a half feet off the ground. He said it also rushed toward them. It also apparently went to the ground to leave the area because it went down and wasn't seen again. He doesn't know if this creature is still around or if it was just passing through. I will post the video once it's been stabilized and I will also post the results of our investigation when they are availble.

"Known Hoaxer"
By: Dan Lindholm
   I post a lot of things from lots of different researchers. One thing that I can almost always depend on, is somebody commenting that this post is from a “known hoaxer.” Where do these accusations come from? Do they come from someone else’s Facebook posts or comments? Do they come from a Para Breakdown or Team Tazer video? It’s almost always because someone has heard somewhere that it’s a hoax, usually on this most extraordinary source of indisputable facts, the internet.
  There is one known hoaxer in this community. Everyone knows that the 2008 hoax by Rick Dyer was indeed a total and complete hoax. That one despicable act by one despicable character was the onset of a cancer in this community. A shadow of doubt is cast from that moment, on EVERYTHING. This time around a lot of people were smart enough to discount Rick’s claims immediately, but some of us had enough trust in humanity to give him a chance and think that people can change. Unfortunately, some people will never change and Rick Dyer will always be a hoaxer and a con man. This new episode has bolstered our mistrust in humanity.
   A bit of skepticism over individual pieces of evidence is a very good thing, but this blanket of mistrust over all research is anti-productive and does nothing at all to advance the cause of learning about the Sasquatch and documenting evidence. Just about every researcher has been called a hoaxer. Timbergiant Bigfoot, Sasquatch Ontario, Dr. Melba Ketchum, Tim Fasano, Stacy Brown Jr., Dr. Matthew Johnson, Todd Standing, Arla Williams, Adrian Erickson, Mitchell Waite, Dan Shirley, Ronald Murphy, Mark Parra, Justin Smeja, Eric Douglas, Bobby Woods and even very respectable men like Derek Randles and Cliff Barackman have been called hoaxers. Many times the people who are calling other researchers hoaxers are the researchers themselves. Somehow they feel that they are the only legitimate researchers out there and if they can’t find good solid evidence, then no one else can either. Whether it be petty jealousy, or retaliation from the others claims, or actually studying the work and seeing flaws in it, they are sometimes very vocal and in my opinion, only doing harm to themselves by openly calling out other researchers.
   Everyone who delves into this subject and finds themselves in the public eye are putting their own personal reputations on the line. Without exception, these people have struggled with the reality that they will risk their integrity and sanity being questioned for doing Sasquatch research. Being called a hoaxer and a liar is no doubt the very last thing they want when starting this journey. The Dyer cancer eventually effects all of them. A very common comment would be “I heard he’s a hoaxer,” or “why do you post from a known hoaxer?” My question to all of you would be, “who says he/she is a known hoaxer?” Rick Dyer is a known Hoaxer. Beyond him, I know of no other researcher that has been proven to be a hoaxer. Sure, there are a lot of people with less than favorable opinions of some of them, but that doesn’t make a “known hoaxer” in my eyes.
   I must admit, I myself have fallen into this trap and have determined in my own mind, from the evidence presented, that Mark Anders is a hoaxer. I have publically stated it, and have given my reasons for my determination, but I still have no proof that he’s a hoaxer. His clear, close, out in the open Bigfoot pics were all taken in locations from Texas to Oklahoma to Santa Cruz and Klamouth (Klamath) and look like they’re all the same rented suit filmed in the same location. The misspelling of the location I sited above was also a big red flag for me. But I have no definitive proof of my claims, just an opinion and I could be wrong.
   In the end, there’s only one known hoaxer to date. Calling someone a hoaxer is an especially low blow to these people who have invested their time, money and reputations researching the Sasquatch. Many of us including myself have had personal encounters. We know that these creatures exist. It’s not a big stretch to think that some of these researchers are successfully documenting real evidence. From Todd Standings still photos to Dr. Ketchum’s paper to Erickson’s Matilda footage, there’s no evidence of fraud. There’s no evidence to support the term “known hoaxer.” If you have examined the evidence and come to the conclusion that it just doesn’t add up for you personally, that’s fine. In that case, go ahead and tell people that it’s your opinion that this or that person is a hoaxer. Make sure to add those three little words though, “in my opinion.” Throwing out terms like “known hoaxer” only applies to one despicable character and it’s a misrepresentation to apply that term to anyone else.

Dr. Ketchum States “I didn’t believe they existed."

By Ed Brown

  In a recent correspondence with Dr. Melba Ketchum, I asked her what it was that had gotten her interested in the Bigfoot subject in the first place.  Her response was "I wasn’t interested in the subject at all.  I didn't believe they existed." She explained that her lab would receive samples because of their work on species identification.  However, everything they had gotten was always a common animal.  I then asked about the evidence that she and her team were able to collect during the Sasquatch Genome project, specifically from that pulled from the mtDNA (mitochondrialDNA is derived from the maternal lineage) and the nuDNA (NuclearDNA is a mix of maternal and paternal lineage) and her response was very clear and precise.  She stated in her own words;

  “The mtDNA is 100% modern human and we were not the first to get those results. Four university labs, testing some of the same samples, had identical sequences to our results. Since species ID is done with mtDNA, this clearly establishes their humanity. The nuDNA was a mixture of human sequence and novel sequence. The novel sequence has never been seen so we do not know what it comes from, I personally wonder if it is the same as the unknown fraction of the Denisovan genome as recently published. Time will tell.”

  If you are not very familiar with the term “Denisovan”, you are not alone, neither was I.  I did some research and what I found was that the Denisovans were cousins to the Neanderthals.  With that cleared up for me, I asked her, what’s the status of all that research and testing that she and her lab had worked so hard on? She stated that at this time, they are doing some limited work, but there was not a lot going on.  When asked why, she replied that;

  “There is no point in putting a lot of effort into something that will be rejected out of bias. We proved they exist, whether anyone believes it or not, and that is what we set out to do, prove or disprove.”

  In my eyes, the problem was not the quality of the research; it was the response Dr. Ketchum received when trying to get her findings published.  This lead us to the subject of peer reviews.  I asked Dr. Ketchum pointedly, Can you explain to us the chain of events surrounding the peer reviews and the publication of the paper?  And, this was her answer;

  “That would take a book. Let's just say that the peer reviews from Nature were wildly biased and they can be viewed at http://bf-field-journal.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_18.html along with my appeal letter to Nature and answer to the reviewers. Apparently journals communicate because I got blocked from even getting the manuscript sent out for peer review by subsequent journals until we found a new journal willing to take it. We passed peer review with their reviewers who were selected by their expertise in genomics according to the editor. Their attorney advised them not to publish it on the day it was supposed to go live. So, we acquired the journal, renamed it and published it ourselves so we wouldn't lose the precious peer reviews.  The reviews were done like any other journal. We don't know who they were, but by acquiring the journal, we acquired them also. So, as far as the peer reviews, it is not self-published. As far as the ownership of the journal, in that way it was self-published but the website and all associated content was already set up and ready to go. All we did was change the name and throw the switch to publish. Those reviews are available at the same website.  It is unethical to publish peer reviews publicly so I didn't put them on that website nor did I leak them. It was someone in the project that had access. It was done without my permission or knowledge.”

ZooBank recognizes the Sasquatch as an individual species

  I guess we would have to ask ourselves this question; If you had the discovery of a lifetime, and maybe even mankind, wouldn’t all of us do the same thing?  Answer, yes, I believe we would.  If the peer reviews were already done as she stated, then there was nothing unethical or deviant about her and her teams approach.  Realizing that there was a lot of negative feedback for that process, I was curious if she had any plans to continue to pursue it further.  She replied that, "yes, but it is a slow process without the funding."

  Dr. Ketchum was a gracious guest and replied to my questions very quickly.  But, I still had another big question for her, and wanted to give her an opportunity to address it.  I asked Dr. Ketchum what she had to say about all the negative comments that have been floating around.  I received this understandably frustrated answer;

  “I feel sorry for all of those people. They don't have a life or they wouldn't be wasting their time targeting me personally. They haven't targeted the science because the science is good. They might disagree with the results but haven't disproven them. I have numerous geneticists that have supported the study, regrettably they are afraid they will be targeted with the same deluge of attacks if they come out publicly for the study so it is what it is. Worldwide, there is a deafening silence in regards to our findings.”

  Through some other reports that I have read or heard about, I was of the understanding that Dr. Ketchum was doing some extensive research on the Paracas Elongated Skulls.  When I asked her about this research she replied that it was too early to discuss any of their findings, and ensured me that the information on the study that had been leaked, was not a sample tested by her team. She stated that she will not release any information until her work is completed.

  I found Dr. Ketchum to be a very open and honest professional.  So, I had to ask this question in closing.  What does the future hold for Dr. Melba Ketchum?  Her response…

“That is a huge question. I just take things one day at a time these days.”

  I don’t think we have heard the last of Dr. Ketchum, or at least, I hope not!

Everybody Loves Arla

Arla Williams Sits Down With Ed Brown

We were lucky enough to be able to do an interview with the incomparable Arla Williams a couple of weeks back. I was very impressed with the interview so I made a shorter version for those of us who can't sit through an hour+ video. Arla talked about her first encounter and her life knowing of the existence of the Sasquatch People. She gave us some insight into the teachings of her grandmother, who also was aware of the Sasquatch and in this edited version of the video I included her summary at the end which speaks not only of the Sasquatch but all of Humanity.

Highlights of the Arla Williams Sits Down With Ed Brown video

Here's the original full length video which includes much more from Arla and Ed, including what she's done, what she's currently doing and even a little bit about her future. She talks about her upcoming book, her opinion on stick structures, the indigenous grandmothers and her Native American heritage. Arla was an absolute joy to work with and she supplied us with all the pictures, including pictures of Indigo and Blue, and some really amazing audio recordings of the sasquatch.

If you don't know who Arla Williams is, then this is a great opportunity for you to get to know her. This is a really great interview with an extraordinary lady who has lived her life with the knowledge of the existence of the Sasquatch people. Included here are some really great photos (including Sasquatch) and perspective by Arla. I've also included a couple of audio segments from Arla that include some great Sasquatch vocalizations. Enjoy this candid and in the end, moving interview with Arla Williams.
